Your answers to the satisfaction questionnaire
Two weeks ago, we introduced a satisfaction questionnaire in the application.
Today, we'd like to share the results with you. Let's find out together what you like, what you like less, and what you expect from Talers.
Are you ready?
*Drum roll*
You gave an average score of... 8.14 ⭐️
20% of you were dissatisfied overall, giving a score between 1 and 6.
27% of you are satisfied with the application and gave a score between 7 and 8.
Finally, 53% of you are extremely satisfied and gave a score between 9 and 10.
What you like
The responses were unanimous: you love the ease of use, the overall aesthetics, and the comfort of writing. The application is pleasant to use, and the file-based organization makes it easy to manage large projects.
Many of you also like the focus mode and typewriter effect.
The dictionary is also very popular. For those of you who don't write in your native language, it's a great way to expand your vocabulary.
For some of you, Talers is “everything you’d expect” from a writing app, and many of you recommend it to friends and family.
What you don't like
One of the negative points I've come across repeatedly is the slowness of the application. This can be a slow loading process, or, for those who use Talers on several devices, slow synchronization.
Those of you who don't speak English or French would also like the application interface to be available in your language.
Our proofreader does not yet support certain languages, such as Turkish. We're keeping a close eye on the progress of grammar checkers around the world, but it'll be a few years before a new generation of checkers arrives.
Finally, writing on smartphones could be more ergonomic.
What you're waiting for
Lots of things! The list is as long as your ideas.
To name just a few, here are ten things that stood out:
Automatic indentation for paragraphs
Share your texts with friends and colleagues
Offline mode
More complete AI reformulation
Character sheets
Objectives by text rather than by project
Specialized plot planning section
An "Undo" button
EPUB export
The ability to move texts between different projects
What we're going to do
Our number one priority is to solve the problem of slowness.
It's a simple symptom, but a complicated problem that we've been working on for months. It calls for changes at the most sophisticated levels, and we've even gone so far as to invent our own real-time data storage system.
To give you an idea, here's how Talers' server map will evolve:
We're almost at the end of this work. You'll receive an e-mail as soon as it's ready 👀
Next, to satisfy those who'd like to enjoy more of the PRO version's features but can't afford it, we'll be introducing a new intermediate subscription in early 2025. This new subscription will offer fewer options than the classic subscription, but will be more economical.
We're also thinking about a way to introduce a discount for students, but this is a complicated subject as we have to manage many countries.
As part of our drive to work together, we'll soon be putting an ideas box online where everyone can contribute. If you decide to share your idea, other people will be able to vote for it to put it forward.
The ideas with the most votes will be given priority in the development list!
Talers is a big project built with small means. We're not Google or Microsoft, and we don't have entire teams on our side.
Nevertheless, we've managed to turn this first version - which many of you love - into a great working tool.
But that's not enough.
We won't stop until we've brought you the very best in creative writing. Whatever your language, whatever your country.
We've only just begun, and we want to offer you more. Much more.
Our final course of action will be to recover the means to produce the features you are expecting.
We'll tell you more in a few weeks 🤫
