Migration to the new architecture
On Sunday, September 1, we'll be carrying out a major migration of the Talers architecture. This fundamental change marks an important turning point in the evolution of our writing application, and we're looking forward to sharing the resulting improvements with you.
Why this migration?
Since our launch, we've always aimed to provide you with a smooth, high-performance writing environment, wherever you are.
However, with the rapid growth of our author community, we identified areas for improvement that could be detrimental to your writing experience. The only solution was a complete overhaul of our infrastructure.
Benefits of the new architecture
1. Improved stability
With the new architecture, you'll experience greater website and application stability. No more untimely interruptions. Now you can concentrate fully on your writing.
2. Improved performance
Talers will now be much faster, especially in South America, Australia and Asia. We know how essential responsiveness is for writers, and this update guarantees an optimized user experience, wherever you are in the world.
3. Improved real-time synchronization
Providing real-time synchronization between different devices is one of our key features. But with increasing traffic, this could sometimes take several days to run smoothly.
With the new infrastructure, these problems are a thing of the past. Now, synchronization works perfectly, in any part of the world, ensuring that your work is always up-to-date, wherever you write.
4. Localized data storage
Another major improvement concerns data storage. From now on, they will be stored only in your main region, reducing loading times and improving the security of your writing.
5. Preparing for future updates
This migration is also a key step in enabling us to unlock new features in the future, like document history. Imagine being able to go back in time and visualize every stage in the evolution of your work!
And a little something new
We didn't want to end this update without adding a handy little feature: the "Undo" and "Redo" buttons.
On the computer, it was possible to use the shortcut CTRL+Z to undo an unforeseen modification (e.g. deleting everything by mistake đ±). But on mobile, there was no way to go back.
Thanks to this update, that limitation is lifted. You can now easily undo or redo your actions, even from your smartphone or tablet.
Risk of service interruption
Some services may be temporarily interrupted on Sunday, September 1, while the new servers connect to each other. We are doing our utmost to minimize these interruptions, but we recommend that you avoid critical writing sessions during this period.
This migration will provide a smoother, faster and more reliable user experience. We thank you for your trust and patience during this transition. September 1st marks a new chapter for Talers, and we're delighted to have you with us on this adventure.
Keep writing and keep inspiring us.
See you soon on Talers!
